FALMMOUTH, MA — A Dorchester man was arraigned in Falmouth District Court Tuesday after prosecutors said he raped a woman while aboard a Steamship Authority ferry heading from Martha's Vineyard to Woods Holes.
Bruno Sanches DeJesus, 20, of Dorchester, was charged with two counts of rape. The Cape Cod Times reported DeJesus pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $25,000 bail. The judge also ordered DeJesus to have no contact with the victim. His next court date is scheduled for June 29.
State and Falmouth Police responded to the Steamship Authority in Falmouth just after 5 p.m., Monday for the reported sexual assault.
Investigators said DeJesus left the dock as a passenger in a commercial box truck. A description of the truck was broadcast, and a state trooper later stopped the truck on Route 28 northbound in Falmouth.
