Property taxes went up again for 2021. Same house, same property virtually unchanged for well over 3 decades. Is it fair the taxes follow the housing market? Is it fair that someone who sits behind a desk that has never seen your property and decides its value? Sounds more like it is being based off the housing market creating a false value to be judged by. Creating a false value that in time will come back to haunt us all. Is it illegal to make a false claim? State and federal laws are in place to protect consumers from false or misleading pricing. These laws make deceptive claims illegal. No business may make false, misleading, or deceptive claims about a product regarding its Price. Yet, our own government is allowed to manipulate the value of others property to gain taxes, create false jobs, value in their own warchest, gaining power over others all on someone else's nickel without their permission. Guess you have to pay all them important people who have split up Lewis & Clark county treasure office, creating more jobs for their family and friends from out of state. I thought nepotism was illegal? I do know of a few, and they are getting fewer. Who do the work, the job, and the requirements along with going above and beyond to help. I have been able to watch that change over the last 4-5 decades as this state as been overly influenced by outside values. Mostly no good for our state, but for themselves as an individual to better themself while using and abusing others and property. A life long native friend told me once, "Over a century of government at work. Too many chief's and not enough warriors has been the demise of many a society. " She had another quote about day light savings time and government, I will save that one for another time.
