Description

GREENDALE, WI—The Greendale School District will recommend but not require masks during summer school and all other summer youth programs, an announcement from Superintendent Kim Amidzich said. The district will still recommend unvaccinated students wear masks, but they won't be required, the announcement said. According to the statement, high rates of vaccination in Greendale and low virus transmission rates allow the district policy change. Only students in the seventh grade and up are eligible for the vaccine. Unvaccinated students in this age group will still be recommended to wear masks, but the district will not require it, according to the announcement. Students under 12, the age cutoff for vaccine eligibility, will still be recommended to wear masks but it will not be required, the announcement said. Staff will follow the guidelines for whichever age group they are interacting with, according to the announcement. The district will monitor area infection rates and will reinstate mask requirements if necessary, according to the announcement. Other preventative measures will remain in place such as proper ventilation indoors, daily disinfecting, contact tracing and quarantining.
