REDMOND, WA — A baby boy who died inside a Redmond apartment earlier this year was the victim of homicide, police said Tuesday. Investigators consider two people to be suspects in the infant's death, but no arrests have been made.
Police said the 10-week-old boy was pronounced dead on Feb. 10 after officers responded to a 911 call reporting he was unresponsive inside an apartment on the 18300 block of Northeast 98th Way, near Bear Creek. At the time, investigators believed the death was suspicious and were awaiting a formal determination by the King County Medical Examiner's Office.
In February, police said a preliminary investigation indicated the baby's mother, described as a juvenile, had left him with residents of the apartment before traveling outside the state.
On Tuesday, police confirmed the two people left with the baby were suspects in his death. Police identified them only as a 20-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, pending formal arrests.
