NEW HAVEN, CT — It stinks. Noisy birds singing, and even an clock alarm dinging is a far better way to be woken than a garbage truck cacophony outside the window, sometimes before dawn. Folks can complain to City Hall, but like the tree in the woods, if no one's there to hear to fall, does it make a sound? An recent amendment to an existing noise ordinance will mandate that city contracted haulers "share GPS data with police or their designee when there's a bonafide complaint," according to a report in the New Haven Register. The report reads that with GPS tracking, the city can hold garbage haulers to the same standard as everyone else: quite before 7 a.m. The potential fine is $100 per occurrence.
