ANNAPOLIS, MD — Downtown Annapolis just got even prettier. Two Anne Arundel County businesses and a local nonprofit hung more than 100 flower baskets around the city. Patch partners with several local organizations to bring you their latest news. This guest contribution comes from the Downtown Annapolis Partnership. Here's what Executive Director Erik Evans wrote about the beautification project: "There are so many reasons that make downtown Annapolis special, waterfront views, historic buildings, outdoor dining, boutique shopping, sailboat races and public art. Now you can add 130 flower baskets to the mix. These beautiful oversized flower baskets are from ... Greenstreet Gardens in Lothian, Maryland where they planted and arranged custom multicolored flower arrangements in wire baskets lined with moss. They are bigger than the flower baskets from years past and will provide a floral display this summer worth photographing. Annapolis based Garden Girls Landscaping installed the flower baskets this week on the Eastport Bridge, City Dock, Main Street, State Circle, Church Circle, West Street and Calvert Street. "These beautiful flower baskets sourced locally will add to the beauty of downtown Annapolis," says Erik Evans, Executive Director of the Downtown Annapolis Partnership. "We are grateful the City of Annapolis funded this beautification project and for the vendors that worked together to get the flowers installed this week." The Downtown Annapolis Partnership managed the sourcing of vendors and installation of the flower baskets for the city. The City of Annapolis staff and Garden Girls Landscaping will be maintaining and watering the flower baskets this summer. As visitors, employees and locals come back to downtown Annapolis they will find a vibrant community ready to welcome them back to enjoy the beauty of the new flower baskets and new public art, along with new stores, restaurants and events.
