Family Promise of Grand Rapids is hosting our 3rd annual family community event called Family Frolic at the Zoo! The wonderful Emily Linnert, from WOOD TV8, will be our emcee for the evening and believe us - it’s going to be a fun-filled night! We’ll have prizes, giveaways, a scavenger hunt for kids and of course ANIMALS! All ages are welcome. The amazing team at Jersey Junction has teamed up with Family Promise to provide free ice cream for guests! Tickets are $10 per adult. Kids under 18 get in for free thanks to generous support from Eastbrook Homes! Will you join us in ending homelessness…one family at a time!? FAQs Why is this event held at John Ball Park Zoo? We're glad you asked! John Ball Zoo provides shelter for animals who may not be able to survive in the wild on their own due to illness or other circumstances.  We love John Ball Zoo's heart for sheltering animals and making sure they have a place to call home, so we are partnering with them because Family Promise provides emergency shelter to families with children and we know how important is it to have a safe place to land during a traumatic time. 90% of our families find a place to call home!  Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? Nope! All are welcome. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? The John Ball Zoo has on-site parking, or maybe you want to use a ride-sharing option like Uber or Lyft. There is also The Rapid bus stop near the Zoo. Who should I contact with questions? Yes, that is okay. Family Promise of Grand Rapids provides emergency shelter, basic needs and re-housing assistance to homeless families with children. We work closely with families and kids to get them off the street and help them find a place to call home. With the lack of affordable housing in our city, many hard-working families are falling into homelessness. Over 85% of families who enter shelter are employed, but still can't make ends meet.
