ROUND ROCK, TX — A Williamson County Deputy was awarded Wednesday for rescuing a man from a burning van in Round Rock in April.
Deputy Jonathan A. Hudash, 28, was awarded the Carnegie Medal Wednesday at the Deputy A.W. Grimes Law Enforcement Training Center in Hutto.
The Carnegie Hero Fund Commission recognizes and support those who perform acts of heroism in civilian life in the United States and Canada, authorities said.

When he arrived, he found a van with heavy smoke and flames with a person inside.
Authorities said Hudash was able to pull a 22-year-old man from the burning van to safety after cutting his seat belt with a pocketknife.
The man was taken to the hospital for treatment of his extensive injuries and severe burns. However, the man later died due to his severe injuries, officials said.
Officials said Hudash was treated at a hospital for burns to his hands. He was released and later recovered.
