Type: Part Time, Regular Employee, Non-Exempt Wages: $18.02 per hour + $4.22 H&W benefit per hour $16.27 per hour + H&W for janitorial duties Benefits: paid sick leave, paid vacation leave, and 401(k) after you qualify Note: You must be able to work weekends and holidays, as needed. Evening Shift: 7:30pm - 1:00am Important details: Actual available work hours vary according to business needs and daily workload. The Commissary is open 7 days a week, and most stockers will work 5 days a week. Employees are trained during the evening shift. Open Until Filled-but HIRING NOW - Don't Wait! Essential duties include but are not limited to all of these jobs: Shelf Stocking: Receive, store, relocate, distribute, fill, rotate, and face shelves with stock. Janitorial: Perform all Janitorial duties at the Commissary. Material Handling: Operate or able to learn forklift, identify and transport merchandise as directed. Warehouse: Comply with Commissary storage procedures, maintain inventory, sort or segregate incoming merchandise. PLEASE NOTE: CASHIERING IS NOT PART OF THIS POSITION. Qualifications: Must be able to work a rotating schedule that may include holidays and weekends. At least two years’ experience as a warehouse team member preferred. Forklift Driver experience preferred. Must be able to successfully complete our forklift driver training program or already have a current forklift driver’s certification. Basic knowledge of shipping/warehouse procedures and regulations preferred. Must be able to read and write English fluently. For an application packet or to ask questions use the Craig's List relay or contact Rollande Scolari at 360-479-6520 JOB DESCRIPTION FOR COMMISSARY WORKER GENERAL SUMMARY: Performs any combination of the following tasks: receive, store, relocate, distribute, fill, rotate, and face shelves with stock. Operates the warehouse forklift to perform merchandise-handling assignments. Identifies and transports merchandise to and from designated storage areas and Commissary floor. Performs a variety of warehouse duties that require an understanding the Commissary storage plan and verifying merchandise, maintaining inventory, sorting or segregating incoming merchandise. Performs all janitorial duties at the Commissary in accordance with contract work requirements. REPORTS TO: Site Supervisor ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (You will be called upon to perform duties of all three): Janitor • Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety trainings, and promote a safe workplace culture at all worksites. • Assist in completion of all contract standards as required including glass cleaning, spot cleaning of walls and doors, restroom cleaning, cleaning of light fixtures and ducts, and planned maintenance schedule. • Sweep and mop Commissary floors as needed using best practices to prevent injury. • Ability to complete several tasks, ability to prioritize responsibilities. • Empty Commissary trash and garbage containers using proper lifting techniques. • Perform daily floor care and periodic maintenance tasks using best practices to prevent injury. • Ability to work independently and problem solve situations. • Reliable attendance in accordance with regular work schedule, hours and policy. • Other duties as assigned. Shelf Stocker • Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety trainings, and promote a safe workplace culture. • Ability to follow instructions received verbally from supervisor on tasks to be accomplished. • Stack cartons onto a cart and push to designated locations within store aisle using safe lifting techniques and within safe stacking guidelines. Carts may weigh up to five hundred pounds when full. • Dusting of shelves using feather dusters or rags and cleaner prior to stocking merchandise. • Open cartons and stock merchandise onto shelves utilizing First-In-First-Out (FIFO) method and within contract specifications using best practices to prevent injury. Stock all items with label facing out. • Ability to determine if a full case can be stocked. Do not open cartons if full case cannot be stocked. • Rotate existing merchandise to the front of the shelf, and place new merchandise in rear of the shelf per contract requirements. • Be familiar with contract requirement for space, height, and width when stocking items. • Move all remaining, unopened cartons to the Overwrite Area. • Reliable attendance in accordance with regular work schedule, hours and policy. • Other duties as assigned. Material Handler • Follow industrial safety guidelines, apply safety trainings, and promote a safe workplace culture at all worksites. • Perform operations and safety checks, including battery, brakes, lift controls, and fire extinguisher daily prior to each day’s use of equipment. • Obtain copy of the production schedule or shipping orders and transport merchandise or equipment to and from designated areas in the Commissary within OSHA guidelines and PIT requirements. • Identify merchandise to be off-loaded from delivery trucks and move merchandise to proper designated storage areas using best practices to prevent injury. • Clear the receiving area of incoming merchandise on the date of receipt. • Keep accurate tallies or counts of merchandise moved and report information to the Site Supervisor. • Use snips to open merchandise and remove plastic wrapping and dispose of material safely in designated containers or areas. • Remove and stack empty pallets in designated areas. • Proceed safely to assigned areas to pull, load, and move merchandise, checking locator cards and documents specific to each type of merchandise. • Service forklift, change propane tanks or batteries, change oil and water, etc. as necessary at end of shift. Return forklift to the correct charging station and prepare equipment for daily overnight charging. • Report all mechanical and electrical difficulties to the Site Supervisor. • May also use hand-powered trucks and electrical and manual pallet jacks. • Verify merchandise against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damage. • Route merchandise to designate storage locations using best practices to prevent injury. • Store, stack, and palletize merchandise in accordance with required storage methods. • Store all perishable items properly within 15 minutes of check-in. • Maintain a current inventory. Revise and update on daily basis. • Remove and properly prepare merchandise from storage areas for stocking purposes. • Assist with minor repair work and housekeeping responsibilities for the work area within contract requirements. • Reliable attendance in accordance with regular work schedule, hours and company policy. • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be able to work a rotating schedule that will include evenings and weekends. • Must be able to satisfactorily pass forklift driver training program or demonstrate in a “road test” safe handling of a forklift truck based on training and experience elsewhere. • Basic knowledge of shipping and warehouse procedures and regulations required. • At least two years’ experience as a warehouse team member preferred. • Must be able to read and write English fluently. • Knowledge of Commissary warehouse procedures preferred. • Must pass agency background check, be able to obtain Navy base clearance, pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and E-Verify certification that you are authorized to work in the US. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged lifting, bending, standing, walking and kneeling: Standing/Walking: Constantly; required to perform the job tasks Climbing: Occasionally; using stairs and ladders to reach various windows, light fixtures, and vents. Pulling/Pushing: Occasionally; pushing and pulling when using pallet jacks, picking carts or four-wheel carts to transfer cartons. Each carton weighs twenty to thirty pounds. Carts or picking carts may weigh up to five hundred pounds. Lifting/Carrying: Frequently; necessary when taking individual cartons off of racks (by hand) to transfer to and from stock pallet and carts, then placing contents onto shelves individually. Cartons weigh twenty to sixty pounds, items weigh 7 0z. to 3 Lbs. Balancing: Occasionally Stooping/Crouching/Bending/Kneeling: Frequently; to fill, rotate and face lower shelves with stock; to dust and scrub as needed Reaching: Frequently Handling/Grasping: Frequently; to hold boxes, when using hand trucks, handling stacks of labels, sweeping, mopping and cleaning spills etc. Additional: Frequently sitting on a powered warehouse forklift truck. High degree of attention required preventing injury to self and others.
