Description
This month we are switching to the THIRD Saturday & partnering with Everybody Eats for an in-person Juneteenth event! Join us on 6/19! We're switching things up this month, and for good reason. We are honored and excited to partner with the incredible organization Everybody Eats as they celebrate their 1 year anniversary and Juneteenth at Malcolm X Park on Saturday, 6/19 giving away food & essentials. Now, about that switch-up. This month, we are volunteering on the third Saturday instead of the second Saturday. Additionally, this month's event time is a bit different. Everybody Eats is holding their food giveaway at Malcolm X Park from 11am-5pm, so we are offering two time slots to sign up for. Please see below for more info. Before we get to more info, please learn a bit about this month's partner: Everybody Eats is a leader in the fight against hunger dedicated to increasing food security and building community. Their mission is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger. They value and embrace diversity, fairness and inclusion as fundamental to our vision of empowering communities where no one has to go hungry. They believe that access to healthy food is a basic human right and not a privilege. All people deserve regular, nutritious meals. They are committed to conducting honest dialogue with all community partners. Through this dialogue, they will strive to continuously improve. Everybody Eats is run and founded by a team of leading chefs from Philadelphia: Stephanie Willis, Kurt Evans, Aziza Young, Gregory Headen, and Malik Ali. Everybody Eats is putting together a food and essentials giveaway to celebrate their anniversary and support the community, and we're eager to help them out. Contact us at [email protected] Cheers, VU PHL The concept is simple - we volunteer with a different nonprofit organization in Philadelphia on the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., then spend the afternoon at a local bar for food, drinks, networking and fun with fellow, like-minded individuals. This program was created to give young professionals the opportunity for inspiring and rewarding experiences that will help forge a passion for future volunteering – both with our organization and on their own. Volunteering Untapped was born out of the realization that young professionals in Baltimore, Chicago, and Philadelphia want to give back to their community, but simply don’t know the best way to get involved. We solve that problem. Our mantra? Volunteering…made easy.
