San Diego County Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday were investigating a serious burn injury and related homicide in two North County cities.
Just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Escondido police and fire personnel responded to the 1800 block of Foothill View Place after a vehicle was reported ablaze.
Fire personnel rescued a man from inside the vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital burn ward in grave condition.
Lt. Mark Moreno said that based on evidence at the scene, deputies went to a home nearby in the 800 block of El Toro Lane in San Marcos where they found a woman deceased inside.
The sheriff's homicide unit responded and assumed responsibility of the investigation. Moreno said there are no outstanding suspects in the case.
