TINLEY PARK, IL — DuPage Medical Group (DMG) announced that a combined effort from locations in Tinley Park, Lisle and Glen Ellyn lead to achieving the milestone of administering 100,000 vaccines amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In a news release, the multi-specialty physician group based in Illinois said hitting the milestone was part of its "Shots of Hope" campaign, aimed to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible patients. DMG said daily inoculations raged anywhere from 1,200- 1,500, and around 10,000 per week across the three sites. "Administering more than 100,000 vaccines into the arms of our patients, neighbors and community members is an extraordinary accomplishment," said Dr. Donald Hoscheit, DMG Chief Medical Officer. "This milestone is more than just a number – it is a reflection of our associates and physicians' unwavering commitment to caring for the well-being of our community while reducing vaccine hesitancy." According to the release, initially DMG partnered with the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD), storing the first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine for DuPage County residents, while also looking to invest in technical resources to vaccinate eligible individuals during each phase. As one of seven mass vaccination sites in DuPage County, DMG then expanded its efforts to vaccinate individuals who are not DMG patients, including everyone ages 12 and up in Illinois, the release states. "The pandemic isn't over yet, but reaching this achievement signifies hope, 'shots of hope', and exemplifies how we're on our way toward better days," said Dr. Mathew Philip, an internal medicine physician, director of clinical innovation and COVID-19 response physician leader at DMG. "All COVID-19 vaccines currently available have proven to be effective in preventing COVID while protecting yourself and people around you, especially those at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19." DMG said that continuing to practice social distancing and masking are all critical to end the pandemic. The group is encouraging everyone who is eligible to get a vaccine as soon as they are able to.
