EAST GREENWICH, RI — Five dogs were removed from a home in East Greenwich Monday in connection with an animal cruelty case being investigated by the R.I. Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA), reported WPRI.
Upon arrival at the home, investigators found two dogs in the backyard with no food or water and limited shade, RISPCA's Humane Law Enforcement Officer Earl Newman told WPRI. The other three dogs were inside the home and all were significantly underweight.
The dogs were taken to RISPCA for evaluation and treatment and the home was ordered condemned by a building inspector, said Newman.
The owner, Eugene McQuade, has been investigated for animal cruelty in the past. RISPCA says he is cooperating with the investigation and no charges have been filed as of Tuesday.
