NOVATO, CA — An educator with local roots has been tapped for a new administrative role. The Novato Unified School District last week announced the appointment of Michael Casper as San Jose Middle School's new principal. The appointment of the current San Marin High School assistant principal is effective July 1, pending board approval, the district said in a statement. "I couldn't be more excited about being given this opportunity to make a positive impact in the San Jose Middle School community," Casper said in a statement. "As principal, my number one priority is always maintaining as safe learning environment where all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential and enjoy their time at San Jose Middle School. Yes, we should have fun and enjoy school!" Casper has served in his current administrative role at San Marin for 16 years. Before that he was a Marin County Office of Education Alternative Education Program teacher for seven years. "We are thrilled to advance Mike into the role of principal at San Jose Middle School," NUSD Superintendent Kris Cosca said in a statement. "Mike is a dedicated administrator at NUSD who meets every challenge presented him. He brings his knowledge, skills and leadership to the role of principal at San Jose and here at NUSD."
