NEWTOWN, PA — How fast could you run with half a dozen donuts in your belly? A new organized race by a group known as runBUCKS looks to answer that very question by combining America's love for donuts with its passionate interest for competitive sports. The group's DONUT5000 race will take place at the Council Rock High School North track on Friday, June 18, at 5:40 p.m. The 3.1-mile track race combines speed eating and running, so if you love donuts and the possibility of your competitor vomiting on the track beside you, then this might be the event for you. The race will begin at the 5000 meter mark. Racers will then run 200 meters and consume their first glazed Dunkin' Donuts, followed by a full lap around the track and another donut. The race will continue in this sequence until the runner has eaten one dozen donuts and ran a total of 12.5 laps around the track. The competitor with the fastest eating and running time will be declared the winner. The slowest of the three heats will begin at the Walt Snyder Stadium at Council Rock North at 5:40 p.m. The next heat will begin at the conclusion of the first, with the third and final heat suited for the fastest eaters and runners. The race is limited to 72 competitors. In the event that this race sells out, the promoter has offered the fastest man and fastest women a cash prize of $4,100. Registration is open here. The cost is $42.50 to sign up. Be the first to know what's happening in your town and area. Sign up to get Patch emails and don't miss a minute of local and state news: https://patch.com/subscribe
