GURNEE, IL — Three young adults were taken to the hospital and two young children narrowly avoided injury in a rollover crash on Washington Street Tuesday afternoon, Gurnee police said. Police were called to the scene of a crash with injuries at around 3 p.m. in the area of Washington Street and Cemetery Road. There, officers located an overturned Subaru with three people inside. Occupants were an 18-year-old male driver, as well as a 22-year-old man and 20-year-old woman. All were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. A Mazda was also involved in the crash. That car's 27-year-old driver and two young children seated in the back were uninjured. Police said the children were secured in child safety seats. An initial investigation by the Major Crash Assistance Team revealed the Subaru and Mazda were both traveling west on Washington Street. The driver of the Mazda hit the rear end of the Subaru, causing the Subaru to veer off the road and roll over, police said. The crash remains under investigation by Gurnee Police Department.
