WOODBURY, MN — Bail has been set at $175,000 for Keith Dawson, 35, who is accused of starting the crossfire at a graduation party in Woodbury that resulted in the death of his stepson, The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported. Dawson's criminal history was revealed at the hearing, and includes convictions relating to car theft, firearms possession, burglary and another drive by shooting, the publication reported. Dawson, of Saint Paul, was booked into Washington County Sheriff's Office Sunday morning, police said. He is facing charges of drive by shooting, illegal possession of a firearm, and second-degree assault, police said. Charges against the person who shot and killed his stepson, 14-year-old Demaris Hobbs-Ekdahl, have still not been announced. The group returned fire at Dawson's white SUV and Hobbs-Ekdahl, who was in a separate car behind Dawson's, was hit, police said. Dawson brought his stepson to a nearby hospital where he died.
