BUFFALO GROVE, IL — Crediting a group of residents who expressed their desire for the Pride flag to be displayed on Village property, officials have decided to do just that for the remainder of June. The decision came after members of the Village Board heard from residents Monday night at a Committee of the Whole meeting. A rainbow Pride flag was raised Tuesday and will continue to fly for the rest of June at the Rotary Village Green, 265 N Buffalo Grove Road. June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Officials said the public park is a gathering place where the Pride flag can be displayed and recognized by the entire community, according to a news release. "The Village remains steadfast in encouraging acceptance and inclusion for LGBTQ+ and all community members," the Village said in the release. "...The Village encourages everyone to do their part in recognition and support of Pride Month." At the June 21 Village Board meeting, the Village Board will be reviewing current policies regarding the flying of flags at the Rotary Village Green and discussing guidelines for future requests, according to the news release.
