Riverside Park Water Fountains Are Getting A Makeover: See It

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — The water fountains on the Upper West Side in Riverside Park are about to get a major makeover. A new art installation by Adrian Sas is coming to the neighborhood that will transform the otherwise unnoteworthy fountains into eye-catching pieces of art. The installation entitled "Source to Spout" will cover water fountains with a series of panoramic photographs throughout the park from West 66th to 148 Streets. The installation will be on view beginning on June 18. Photo Credit: Adrian Sas The photo wraps will focus on the system of protected lands, reservoirs, and aqueducts that feed the Riverside Park fountains. Sas is a multimedia artist and documentary filmmaker who uses her work to engage "participants of all ages and abilities in experiences that augment self-awareness and trigger contemplation," according to a news release from the Riverside Park Conservancy. The "Source to Spout" installation is part of the NYC Parks Art in the Parks program and is made possible in part by public funds from Creative Engagement. The installation is also looking to highlight the more than 1 billion gallons of water that flow from upstate New York watersheds every day into the city.
