DETROIT — Two people were arrested early Wednesday morning after leading Michigan State Police troopers on a chase through the city of Detroit, authorities said.
At around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday, troopers patrolling I-96 ran the plate of a Dodge Durango reported stolen by Troy police. When the troopers tried to pull the vehicle over it drove off, police said.
A chase ensued before troopers used a PIT maneuver at Grand River and Avery to stop the vehicle, police said. The driver and a passenger ran from the vehicle, with the driver being taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, police said.
A Michigan State Police K-9 unit arrived on the scene and tracked the passenger, allowing police to take him into custody, police said.
Police said a handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
