Rowen Development Community Meeting Slated For Wednesday

DACULA, GA — The public is invited to a meeting Wednesday night to learn more about the 2,000-acre Rowen research development planned for the Dacula area. Billed as a "knowledge community," Rowen is an ambitious development expected to combine offices, research facilities, public spaces and residences off Georgia Highway 316 between Dacula and the Barrow County line. The meeting, to be led by Rowen Foundation President Mason Ailstock, will be held at the Dacula Park Activity Building at 2735 Old Auburn Ave. Attendees must RSVP at the Rowen website. The event will be structured around topics such as Rowen's vision, leadership and location, according to Rowen spokesperson Vivian Lee-Boulton. "The team members will be prepared to answer questions," Lee-Boulton told Patch by email, "but the primary focus of tomorrow's event is to encourage the Dacula community to think big, offer ideas, provide feedback and imagine Rowen together." The concept for Rowen has been compared by officials to Research Triangle in North Carolina. In 2020, Gwinnett County commissioners voted to issue up to $72 million in bonds in support of Rowen for land acquisition and infrastructure.
