TUSCALOOSA, AL — A York woman and two children were killed in a single vehicle crash that also injured two other passengers in Sumter County around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Public Information Officer Senior Trooper Reginal King identified the adult fatality as Ciarra Dalton Stephens, 35. The two children killed, who were also both from York, were identified only by their ages — 6 and 7.
King said all three were pronounced dead at the scene and were not using seat belts at the time of the crash, which occurred on Sumter County Road 27, approximately six miles west of York.
Two other passengers were also injured in the crash and transported to area hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released at this time.
ALEA commented that while the cause of the fatal crash remains under investigation, speed is believed to have been a factor.
