Program: ESNY Rochester Job Title: School Custodian Location: Rochester, NY Required schedule: Full-Time Position Summary: The Kessler Center School Custodian will perform a variety of cleaning duties to maintain a clean and sanitary environment of our facilities for our clients, staff and guests. The School Custodian is expected to respond to calls from the school staff for spills and accidents that occur while school is in session. A detailed checklist for the school building is to be followed. Essential Job Functions: The Kessler Center School Custodian will provide support and direction to the cleaning staff (including cleaning that occurs after school hours of operation) and will be responsible to monitor and maintain the communication log for all cleaning that occurs after school hours of operation. The Kessler Center School Custodian will be responsible for supporting the school for emergency clean-up and repair needs to ensure the health and safety of our students, staff, and guests. In addition, the Custodian is responsible for the cleaning of the entire basement level and the detailed dusting, repairs and window cleaning throughout every level of the school building. The Kessler Center School Custodian is responsible for confidential shredding and recycling pickup and disposal. The Kessler Center School Custodian is responsible for the distribution of deliveries, office supplies, and other items to their recipients throughout every level of the school building. • Daily cleaning of rest rooms • Daily vacuuming of carpets in classrooms and hallways • Daily cleaning of offices (vacuuming and garbage pick-up, dusting) • Dusting and damp mopping of tile floors • Cleaning of furniture (tables and chairs) • Must be able to lift 50 pounds • Lifting, squatting, stretching required • Work occasional overtime when needed • Floor stripping and waxing when needed • Follow COVID-19 mitigation procedures • Perform other duties as required Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED • The ability to read, write and follow directions • Basic computer skills excel, word, email. • Valid driver's license • 1 to 2 years of experience in Housekeeping/Custodial work • Pass a pre-employment physical exam and clear all required background checks QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
