Guitarist Wanted - Lead/fingerstyle for Trio.

Meets

westgate blvd near William Cannon, Austin TX

Description

I am an Austin based singer-songwriter looking for a guitarist highly adept at finger style and lead. Someone compositionally minded when it comes to serving a song what it needs. Someone who knows how to let the ego take a back seat. Not scrounging for generic fast paced scale pattern autopilot wanks. Tasty grooves without wasted notes. Talk to me. I don't know what 'genera' I am. Hate that question. My favorite modern band is the Wood Brothers if that tells you anything. Also love Jimi, Dylan, Beatles, Derek Trucks, Allman Brothers, Old Ray LaMontagne, Black Keys, Ray Charles, Lake Street Dive, Freddie King, The Dead, JJ Cale, Donny Hathaway, Otis Redding and a mash of other stuff like that. Typically I've always played guitar in my own bands but I'm getting sick of trying to find a great bass player with some level of availability. I'm very much over playing with random 'pick up' players. My music doesn't lend itself well to 'playing on the fly'. At this point I would rather play solo; which I'm also pretty sick of doing but due to my particularness that's usually my only option. So now I'm translating my songs onto the baritone guitar, tuned to a low A. I am probably an 'expert level' finger style and lead guitarist and will be doing my boyscout best to run bass-lines while chopping chords on the bari so I'm looking for a guitarist to do all the other stuff I used to do. Excited to electrify but there will be acoustic gigs as well. First off posting these ads stresses me out some. I've been through all this in the past for other bands I've had… and good things have come of it but there's always pain with this process... So please understand me here and keep reading. I'm know I am sure to be confronted with a slew of players who, though they might be great in their own right (or not), just might NOT be a good fit for what I'm looking for. For whatever reason. That said I will be staying honest and open during my search in attempts not to waste anyone's time. If you hit me up for consideration just keep in mind there's a good chance you could get butt hurt no matter how awesome you are. Or think you are. Neil Pert would have ruined the Beatles. Think about it as something like that. I'll know when I know the right fit has arrived. My friend Douglas will be on the percussion end of things. He's great and I love playing with him. The three of us will have to groove well to move forward. Paste this link into your browser: youtube.com/watch?v=RPWJGl4SyzM&t=2786s (I'm on the right, Douglas is on the Cajon in Back) I play loads of solo acoustic and other gigs, it's mainly how I make a living. I have a few different groups and configurations I play in. Sometime I play in other peoples bands as a "side-guy" both on keys and guitar. Now I'm ready to branch out and focus more on my own music with a tight band, not interested in sharing the stage with other aspiring writers, sorry. If you are the John to my Paul then I guess we can talk… I'm a pretty open minded dude. Having immediate access to the right players has been the biggest obstacle to playing bigger and better shows for me. I don't take shows that need bands anymore for the reason I'm over rag tag pickup bands, as I think I already mentioned. Once I feel confident in a crew I'll be hitting up some great venues and exploiting some of my 'ins' and regular haunts. Also solid harmony vocals is a MUST. I REALLY want 3 part vox over everything. Pretty much. Also you need a GREAT ear. I love jamming out and building songs to a frenzy and going into all kinds of unexpected directions when it feels right. If you need a paper in front of you to navigate we won't get along well at all. And it would be cool if you were a multi-instrumentalist as well. And comfortable behind the bass. Who knows what will become of it I just like having options and envision having reasons to bring my keyboard setup sometimes. Also If you're already in 400 bands or can't ever play on weekends and most week nights this won't work. A decent amount of availability is pretty important, otherwise I'm back in the boat I've been in for the last 9 years. And yes you'll get paid. I won't play for free and wouldn't expect that of you. And I feel ridiculous saying this but I'd love to have a female in the band. I usually jive with the energy of girls better then dudes but obviously I'm just looking for the best musical fit regardless of color, gender, age, size, sexual orientation or species. I really could care less about any of that stuff. Musicianship aside, first and foremost you have to be enthusiastic about my music. There's plenty of it online to sample. If it's not your bag all good! This ain't the ticket for you. Okay, that’s enough jibber-jabber. Google up: Eric Bettencourt + music (that’s me… ) and you'll be immediately inundated with links to everything including Bandcamp with all my albums and Instagram and youtube. I'm on spotify and all the other legal pirate streaming platforms, again search my name there.. Or you can copy/paste these URLs (because CL doesn't allow hyper links) Website: www.eric-bettencourt.com/ (it links to mostly everything.) My Second Youtube Channel (lots of livestreams and covers) youtube.com/channel/UCswLd1GiCnCkp-rUzG5yiJQ Texting or email is best. If you insist on calling leave a message, i keep my phone off and will get back at you.
