Hello, It’s time for me to bite the bullet and move away from being a solo performer. My name is Billy Mockingbird and I need to start a band, starting with percussion. I play a unique set that I call psychedelic country blues with almost 2000 gigs under my belt. It’s a blues forward (the good shit not that cruise ship blues) blend of well, blues, but also country and rock. For example I will cover RL Burnside and finish with The Stooges. I also blend heavy portions of Psyche with crazy reverse loops, stacked delays and reverbs. I have cultivated a set that was able to sound bigger than a ‘solo guy with guitar’, but now being solo is limiting the shows I can get. Ideally, you would be a VERY versatile percussionist that can adapt to changes in a live setting that are not scripted ( I play a lot of improv and make changes in song). I also am thinking that someone with a small kit, or even just a Cajon, would fit my music better and to make load ins, rehearsals easier. I can practice at my condo (only a deaf lady above me for neighbor) in north campus. I just need someone to take the music, gigs, rehearsals, and themselves serious. I am doing this as a source of increasing income and I need someone who wants to gig 2-3 times a week (eventually). Right now I have a residency at the Hole in the Wall on Sunday nights for the foreseeable future, so we would have gigs as soon as you are ready.
