Job Summary Experienced and energetic production oriented Construction Assistant to the Superintendent with a specific focus in carpentry. Shadow the Superintendent in activities related to directing, stimulating and supervising all phases of the operational functions of assigned field projects while also acting as the lead carpenter on the job site. The SUPERINTENDENT’S ASSISTANT reports directly to the SUPERINTENDENT. This is a “temporary” position for our job site(s) at the Salisbury, North Carolina Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center. The position will end when the projects are complete (est. early 2022) Relocation to other job sites is possible. Experience Required Experience in the Construction Industry is required Experience in Carpentry is required Basic Tool Supply Commercial Work Proficient Safety Oriented Driver’s License and Social Security Card Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the Superintendent in the following duties: • Supervise all projects, including subcontractor work, in such a manner to insure a safe, efficient and timely operation in accordance to company accepted operational procedures. • Act as the lead carpenter on the job-site. • Assist with general labor as needed. Clean up etc. • Notify Project Manager of any project discrepancy or of any subcontractor behind schedule. • Insure that the project is in accordance with the construction program established by the contractor and the company and that all parties perform the binding duties as defined in the governing contract. • Insure that all OSHA safety rules and regulations regarding personnel and equipment are adhered to and that a safety training program is in progress at all times. Safety meetings must be organized once a week. A written report must be submitted to the corporate office every week. • Pass and maintain records of TB tests • Prepare the required reports needed for the owner to complete project(s). Maintain a cordial relationship with owner, contractors, government, building occupants or other pertinent people.
