To the person flagging me please email and let me know why. If we do find the right person, this will be one of the hardest things I have ever done. We adopted Finn when he was a pup, and he has always been a complicated little man. According by to his embark DNA test he is about 40% white shepherd and 20% wolf, with some husky and malamute mixed in as well. He is almost 5 years old. I will preface this by first saying he is a wonderful companion in many ways. He’s very loyal, protective and silly. He loves to play and run free. He listens well too. That being said, he has some temperament problems. Wolves are very dramatic in their communication and it definitely shows with him. He uses what are called placement bites, which look very intense but really don’t hurt. He is not good with dogs he doesn’t know, especially submissive dogs. Again, when he goes after a dog it only looks and sounds intense, but there’s no actual biting down. I would love for him to have a friend but it needs to be a dog that is the right fit. He must be paired with people who understand that animals are not only here for humans. He has his own way of being and doesn’t need to conform to the standard of what a “good dog” looks like. While very affectionate, sometimes he wants space, and that should be okay. He is an extremely sensitive and intelligent dog, and will not do well in a home as just “as a pet”. I would definitely insist no kids and strongly suggest no cats, though a cat could work depending on the situation. He needs a lot of engagement and exercise. If you aren’t excited about taking him on hikes or runs and walks, please don’t reply. I will be doing some serious screening, and it may take a miracle to find someone I trust to hand him over to. If you are seriously interested send me some information about yourself and your lifestyle. We will have to meet and get him acclimated to you and I would need to do a home visit.
