Description

Uvulittle Records artist Ritt Deitz emerges from the pandemic with an album's worth of new songs with his multi-instrumentalist son Wilder. Following their sold-out October 2019 show (Ft. Thomas, KY) Parlor and Patio House Concerts called Ritt and Wilder Deitz a "soulful roots duo" and praised their "rivers of harmony." The AV Club called Ritt's songs “concurrently earthy, ethereal and intelligent” and compared him to songwriters Greg Brown and Bruce Cockburn. Isthmus praised Ritt's "rugged mountain sonics" and compared him to Tom Waits, noting Ritt's "ability to marry sophistication with down-homeness." Taught to play by his father, and mentored by NEA Jazz Master Richard Davis, Wilder is already known in the Midwest for the original soul music he plays with a large roster of singers and instrumentalists. He also runs the Wilder Deitz School for Creative Music in Madison, WI. Synesthesia’s Scott Collins called Wilder’s music “absolutely beautiful"; Tone Madison called it “show-stopping,” “fresh” and “joyous.” Father and son have played together a long time but have spent the pandemic creating songs for a new album they will record this fall. Come hear those tunes, plus some older ones, at this rare local show. NOTE: ticketed guests (Eventbrite or Venmo @zacharydwyatt) will have first dibs on auditorium-style seats in this outdoor private venue just off the bike path near Madison's Goodman Community Center. Guests are encouraged to bring a camp chair and a beverage if they like--refreshments will also be available for a small donation. Gates open at 6:30, show begins at 7:30pm. $10 advanced/ $15 cash day of show, pending available space in yard. Special guest: Host of Sparrows.
