Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens' 2021 Summer Concert continues with country band, Gunsmoke. The concert will take place on the Great Lawn. Bring chairs or a blanket, and a picnic dinner. Wendy’s Weenies food truck will also be on site. In the event of rain, the concert will take place in the Silver Educational Center. Gunsmoke has been entertaining audiences at fairs, festivals, clubs, private parties and concerts with classic Country, Western swing and rockabilly music for over over 25 years. The Nashville recording artists have six albums recorded and have performed on the world famous Ernest Tubb's Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, TN following the Grand Ole Opry. Gunsmoke is enshrined into the Connecticut country music hall of fame, the country music and dance hall of fame in Mount Kisco, NY and elected band of the year six years in a row by the New York Metro Country Music Association. They have performed for two sitting Presidents of the United States and received a citation from the state of Connecticut commemorating the band's silver anniversary of 25 years entertaining audiences with classic country music. We currently offer several core programs to the youth of the community including school programs, after school programs, outreach programs and a summer camp. The Nature Explore Classroom, an outdoor classroom, answers the profound need for connecting young children with nature. Another great educational tool, the Bartlett Arboretum’s Herbarium and Research Library is a collection of more than 6,000 sheets of preserved plants from around the world dating back to 1887. Open during the summer months, University of Connecticut Master Gardeners, answer questions and assist the community in garden-related topics through their Plant Clinic (free).
