Description
A Freedom Day Walk followed by resource fair, panel discussions addressing health and wellness in the Black community and entertainment! AboutThe San Gabriel Valley has long been facing health inequities in the black community. Specifically, African American/Black infant and maternal health is a concern in that public health statistics show a disparity in low-birth weight and pre-term births. Toxic stress is part of the problem, along with institutionalized racism and implicit bias as the root causes. Please join the Therapeutic Play Foundation, San Gabriel Valley African American Infant and Maternal Mortality (AAIMM) Community Action Team and the Black Mental Health Taskforce in convening to celebrate freedom, bring awareness of the history behind this special day and unite on this Juneteenth. This is a FREE event for the whole family. RSVP'ing here confirms you will receive a Juneteenth shirt and will be in the Freedom Day Walk. However, due to the incline in the walking route and a small section of dirt/small rocks, it may not be accessible to everyone while the resource fair, giveaways and festivities is accessible to all. Please be sure to respond during the registration process if you will be attending the walk or only registering for the Juneteenth shirt and festivities.
