Sunday July 18th 2021 @ 5pm at the Poor House Bistro Studio Tickets $20 in advanced or $25 at the door. TIA CARROLL - YOU GOTTA HAVE IT! (Little Village, June 2021) Produced by Kid Andersen & Jim Pugh at Greaseland USA Executive producer: Noel Hayes We are so excited to introduce you to the amazing vocals of Bay Area blues singer supreme, Tia Carroll. Tia has been performing steadily with her own band for decades in California, and made some successful recordings before (rock, gospel, and blues (with bands in Italy and Brazil.) But this is her first stateside studio recording of strong original blues and soul, and interesting well-chosen covers. This is the album Tia’s long-time fans have been waiting for. We’ve always known she has the voice, charisma, and passion, but now with the added combination of outstanding song selection, musicianship, and production, we believe we have a truly remarkable recording that will bring the much-deserved attention to lovely Tia’s talents. YOU GOTTA HAVE IT! Tia’s emotive vocals truly mesh well together with the Blues Music Award nominated piano/organ playing of Little Village’s Jim Pugh and the jaw dropping, yet tasteful guitar of Kid Andersen. The Sons of Soul Revivers also added their awesome gospel soul stirring vocals to many of the tunes, including their heartfelt rendition of the Staples Singers’ classic “Why Am I Treated So Bad?” and Z.Z. Hill’s deep soul blues ballad, “I Need Someone.” The ridiculously talented and unique Charlie Hunter (who plays guitar and bass simultaneously) guests on “Ain’t Nobody Worrying,” an exceptionally cool struttin’ funky cover of a gem from soul star Anthony Hamilton. “Our Last Time” is a killer Jim Pugh tune that he and Robert Cray recorded during their years playing together. It has a wild soaring Magic Sam like groove from guitarist extraordinaire Kid Andersen. “Don’t Put Your Hands On Me” is an outstanding R&B romp written by the always witty Rick Estrin for one of Tia’s heroes, KoKo Taylor. Tia makes this warning song all her own and it has the added clout of a full horn section, featuring Mike Rinta on trombone, Rob Sudduth on tenor sax, Aaron Lington on baritone sax, and Jeff Lewis on trumpet. Sax Gordon Beadle also adds his distinctive horn blasts to a few songs, including the Kid and Lisa Andersen original, “Ready To Love Again,” …Tia’s back in the game! Tia Carroll brought three of her own originals to the session, including the sultry and seductive “Leaving Again” which has a funky 70’s feel with Kid’s wah-wah and Jim’s Rhodes, the standout beautiful and emotional ballad “Even When I’m Not Alone” and Tia’s inspirational message song, “Move On” which features our Brazilian blues friend, guitar star Igor Prado on stunning lead. Let’s all heed Tia’s advice as she declares “I gotta message for y’all…get up when you fall and MOVE ON!” - Kevin Johnson, Proud Papa Promotions & Publicity, SONNY GREEN - FOUND! ONE SOUL SINGER (Little Village Foundation, October 2020) Produced by Kid Andersen at his Greaseland Studio, USA We are beyond excited to announce the new recording from Little Village Foundation – the debut full length album from the best real deal soul singer you've never heard…SONNY GREEN!!! We truly believe he is one of the best blues and soul singers alive, and this high quality debut recording, produced/recorded by the supremely talented Kid Andersen, is going to blow you away with Sonny’s gospel-drenched, soul stirring vocals being the star of the show. This modern day soul blues classic recording also has the benefit of having Kid’s other worldly guitar and genius production skills, Jim Pugh’s in demand B-3 organ playing, a full horn section (including guest sax studs, Sax Gordon & Terry Hanck (check Terry’s hilarious original, “Cupid Must Be Stupid”) and star vocalist, Alabama Mike! After hearing this superb record, I’m sure you’re going to ask, “Where has this amazing singer been all my life?” Well, Sonny’s been singin’ since his teens in Louisiana, and performing regularly for over 40 years to devoted Los Angeles area crowds. Amazingly he has never had a full length recording before, but he did record a handful of sought after killer 45’s during the late ‘60’s/early ’70’s. One of his songs from ’71 on the Hill label (Matt Hill, ZZ. Hill’s brother) “If You Want Me To Keep On Lovin You” is revisited here in an outstanding updated version. Like any great artist, Sonny has a style and voice all his own, but you can definitely hear his influences in his repertoire, including Bobby “Blue” Bland (“I’m So Tired”), Little Milton (“If Walls Could Talk”), Syl Johnson (“Back For A Taste Of Your Love”), Ted Taylor’s ballad (“Be Ever Wonderful”), and even a really cool cover of an early Willie Nelson tune, “Are You Sure?” Two standout songs have never been on record before, the Alabama Mike original, “Trouble,” a “so funky you can smell it” duet with Sonny and Alabama Mike, and one of two originals from the witty mind and pen of Rick Estrin, “I Got There!” “He is perhaps the greatest R&B talent you’ve never heard of, a practitioner of the blues and soul vocal arts since the 1950s. At 77 years old, he’s lost none of his fire, passion, nor sheer majestic ability. He can roar about the darkest heartbreak like a mortally wounded soldier of love and then coax out a velvet-smooth line of last call seduction. Wielding that glorious microphone as he works the crowd—part midway barker, part preacher in heat—he still casts a powerful spell on the ladies out there in the dark, the ones sipping their Chablis and tonguing the salty rims of their peach margaritas.”- Peter Gilstrap, https://www.bynwr.com/ "For Southern Soul Blues performed with grit, wit, and sartorial splendor, there is only one man to go to: Los Angeles-by-way-of-Louisiana singer Sonny Green. Coming from the same emotional and musical place as his barroom-philosophizing contemporaries Johnny Taylor, Bobby Patterson, and Little Milton.” – Michael Hurtt, Ponderosa Stomp -Kevin Johnson, Proud Papa Promotions & Publicity,
