As I entered the Starbucks with a colleague you tried to say hi. You asked if I had a boyfriend. I think you put out your hand for a friendly handshake. I was confused, surprised and embarrassed- I'm sorry I was rude and dismissive. I wish I had paused, looked you in the eye and told you that, yes, I do have a boyfriend but thank you for the compliment. Being noticed made me feel good. I'm sorry for not giving you kindness in return.
