We provide a wide array of trauma-informed healthcare, emergency services, and supports to nearly 25,000 individuals each year, and we are committed to making our programs more accessible to all. TITLE:              Medical Advocate HOURS:           Part-time PROGRAM:      A New Day SALARY:           $18.58 - $20/hour DUTIES: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical and Emergency Services, the Part-time Medical Advocate will provide on-call coverage for the medical advocacy program for a minimum of one shift per month (Fri: 7:00 pm-Mon: 7:00 am; Mon – Fri: 7:00 am – 7:00 pm; or Mon – Fri: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am). Coverage includes meeting survivors of sexual assault at the hospital and/or on local college campuses to provide support and information regarding the survivors’ legal and medical options, as well as crisis counseling and emotional support. Respond within two hours to survivors at hospitals within the Health Imperatives catchment area, i.e., South Shore Hospital, Beth-Israel Deaconess Hospital – Plymouth, Brockton Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Norwood Hospital, and Beth Israel Deaconess - Milton.Respond within two hours to survivors on college campuses serviced by Health Imperatives, i.e., Curry College, Stonehill College, Massasoit College, Bridgewater State University, and Quincy College.Provide comprehensive referrals and information regarding survivors’ options and resources after experiencing sexual assault.Provide crisis counseling and emotional support to survivors and significant others who may be in attendance.Work closely with the Health Imperatives’ staff to ensure comprehensive advocacy, referrals, and case management services are provided when requested and/or as a follow-up to services offered by the medical advocate.Complete a Medical Activity Report Form by 3 pm of the following business day.Provide on-call coverage for a minimum of shift per month.Attend monthly supervision meetings on the second Tuesday of the month.Submit a timesheet by 5 pm on Thursday every two weeks. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least one year of experience working with vulnerable and diverse populations. Ability to maintain a flexible schedule in accordance with program needs, i.e., weekend emergency responses are required. Superior understanding of trauma and its effects within the dynamics of sexual violence and relationship violence. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must reside in a location that enables a prompt response time. Travel is required.
