BARTOW, FL — A 17-year-old boy was killed during a drug deal Monday night at a Bartow park, the Polk County Sheriff's Office said.
Taigur Taguri of Bartow, the victim, drove his red Chevrolet Silverado truck to Gordon Heights Park to conduct a marijuana just before 9:40 p.m., and he had a female friend with him, according to investigators. The female had been hanging out with him earlier in Lakeland. She told police she was unaware that he was going to do a drug deal when he asked her if he wanted to go for a ride. He disclosed the information to her after he parked his truck. It was then that several unknown Black males with guns walked to his truck, opened both doors and started shooting Taguri, deputies said.
Taguri was shot multiple times. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said it was a miracle the witness was not struck by any bullets. The killers left the area after the shooting, detectives said.
