LONG BEACH, NY — There will be a special way to honor the Stars and Stripes.
To commemorate Flag Day, the city of Long Beach plans to hold a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. June 14. It's being put together in conjunction with the Joint Veterans Organization, the city of Long Beach said on its website.
The event would take place at Veteran's Memorial Park at Magnolia Boulevard and West Bay Drive.
Veterans and city officials are expected to attend to ceremony. It's open to the public as well and they are encouraged to bring "tattered, worn or unserviceable" American flags for "dignified disposal by burning," the website said.
