NEW HAVEN, CT — In another of the recent torrent of shootings in the city, a 51-year-old man was gunned down on Ella T. Grasso Boulevard Monday night, police said. Just after 6:30 p.m., police got a number of 911 calls saying a man was being shot on the boulevard between Whalley Avenue and Argonne Street. Police got there and found the man with a single gunshot wound. New Haven police spokesperson officer Scott Shumway said the man was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and listed in stable condition. The New Haven Independent reported that witnesses told police the shooter was "last seen running into the Walgreens parking lot and then entering a gold or brown colored Audi sedan." Over the weekend, several shootings left a number of city men injured and one dead. Shumway said that in a Friday shooting in the 100 block of Springside Avenue, 37-year-old Miguel Ramos of New Haven was killed. Police ask that any witnesses who have not yet spoken with the Police contact the New Haven Police Department Investigative Services Division at 203-946-6304. Callers may remain anonymous or submit tips anonymously by calling 1-866-888-TIPS(8477), or text "NHPD plus your message" to 274637 (CRIMES).
