People with general labor experience are encouraged to apply. College education is a plus but is not required, dependability and competence are key to preforming well in this position. This position will require daily heavy lifting, work outdoors, and work with chemicals on a daily, on-going basis. All necessary training and certification will be provided. RCRA Technician ChemicoMays - Redmond, WA 98052 The RCRA Technician is responsible for performing all environmental functions of a site's Chemical Management Operations as specified in the SOW. This may include insuring compliance with required training and manual labor. Responsibilities/Duties: Ensure the customer's site compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and guidelines. Collects, labels, transports (internally only), and/or handles hazardous waste as a primary part of job. Performs all chemical storage and waste required inspections including satellite accumulation areas, oil/chemical and hazardous waste storage yard inspections, and container storage inspections. Ensures the required documentation for all inspections is completed and maintained as required. Establish processes to identify potential noncompliance issues. Responsible for packaging, labeling, and marking hazardous waste according to DOT and EPA regulations. Obtain training to respond to facility Spill incidents, 24/7 as required. Calls the emergency line when a spill, leak, or other emergency occurs. Emphasizes the continuing minimization of hazardous waste generation by effective housekeeping and good management practices. Responsible for overall housekeeping of chemical storage areas. Actively participate in plant meetings. Ability to drive a forklift legally. Move barrels pails and heavy objects as needed. Gather data, analyze, interpret, and prepare technical reports. Interface with customer Environmental Audit Team and Legal Staff, as required. Support the customer's Environmental Management System (EMS) to maintain ISO 14001 certification. Utilize and maintain an Environmental Calendar to ensure timely conformance with all site environmental requirements. Assist in maintaining cost controls, and drive Productivity Improvement initiatives. Provides chemical procurement services with ChemicoMays ERP system. Provides weekly physical verification of inventory and reconciles with ERP system. Provides Billing to the facility and ChemicoMays identified personnel at scheduled intervals. Oversees general operation of the program. On-Call 24-7. Other duties as required. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills. Understanding of environmental processes. Ability to communicate effectively. Good understanding of corporate and site specific initiatives. Understand customer manufacturing systems and principles and integrate environmental needs into this system where feasible. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of computer. Ability to stand for prolonged periods and walk within very large industrial environments. Ability to use computers/peripherals to create spreadsheets/documents/graphs/compose reports and presentations. Able to safely lift 45 lbs. Occasional travel possibly required. Experience in environmental compliance preferred. 2 year college degree with a major in engineering or related sciences (chemistry, biology, environmental sciences) with emphasis on environmental engineering preferred. Basic understanding of current environmental laws and regulations. RCRA, CVI and DOT certifications required for job completion.
