POINT PLEASANT, NJ – In a letter posted on the district's website yesterday, Point Pleasant Superintendent of Schools Vincent Smith reminded parents that under the current guidelines, school districts could choose whether or not kids have to wear masks depending on how hot it is outside that day. "Governor Murphy announced that in-school masking requirements include exceptions for extreme heat, and school officials are empowered to make the best decision for their buildings and communities," Smooth wrote in the letter. "The decision for students and staff to not have to wear a mask under these circumstances will be made each morning on a daily basis by the Superintendent of Schools in conjunction with the building principal." The letter added that students could still choose to wear a mask if they wanted to, and if the forecast calls for days of high temperatures, decisions could be made in advance.
