SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Three Golden State cities ranked among the best places to "staycation," according to a new list compiled by WalletHub. San Francisco, snagged no. 3 out of 182 cities across the U.S. The financial advice website used several metrics to determine how cities ranked, including the number of parks, swimming pools, ice cream shops, museums, coffee shops, beer gardens, zoos, aquariums, tennis courts, public golf courses and spas per capita in each city. It also took into account local restaurant meal costs and entertainment. San Francisco scored among U.S. cities that have the most museums per capita, according to WalletHub. Fortunately for San Franciscans, the Bay Area's largest city is chalked full of eclectic architecture and historic landmarks to admire, including the Golden Gate Bridge. Downtown, locals can hop on a cable car and find a new restaurant, neighborhood or shop to explore every week.
