NORTH MANKATO, MN — A 9-year-old boy died in an apparent drowning at a city pool in North Mankato Saturday. The Spring Lake Park swim facility was closed Sunday in response to the incident. "Staff responded immediately and appropriately to the incident, using their training to render aid to the boy and ensure the safety of other guests," spokesperson Katie Heintz said. "However, out of an abundance of caution we want to complete a review of the incident before reopening the facility." Officials will post information about the reopening of the pool on the Spring Lake Park swim facility's Facebook page. The incident was one of at least two possible drownings that occurred over the weekend in Minnesota. A man died after trying to rescue his children from a lake in Fridley Sunday.
