Press release from the City of Aliso Viejo:
December 18, 2020
A COVID-19 vaccine is one of the most important tools to end the COVID-19 pandemic. On December 11, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization (EUA) for a vaccine, allowing the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to be distributed in the U.S.
Is the vaccine safe?
COVID-19 vaccines authorized by FDA have been carefully evaluated in clinical trials.
Click here to read about how the federal government is working to ensure safety. Additionally, California formed a Scientific Safety Review Workgroup to review the federal process and has confirmed that the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and efficacious. Learn more here.
How will vaccines be distributed?
Vaccines will be distributed in a phased approach, first in limited amounts to carefully selected high risk groups, including healthcare workers and long-term care residents.
California will distribute and administer vaccines as soon as they are available. You can read more about the State's plans here.
The City of Aliso Viejo will be coordinating with the County of Orange to distribute vaccines when they become available to the general public. This page will be updated accordingly. County vaccine resources can be found here.
