HOOVER, AL — Two people accused of stealing a car and then leading police on a chase into Ensley are now behind bars, according to the Hoover Police Department. Tyrone Leander Jordan, 18, of Fairfield and Elijah Javon Rockette, 17, of Birmingham have both been charged with robbery in the first degree. Around 2 a.m. Monday, police said the Hoover 911 center received a call of an armed robbery in a parking lot at The Park at Hoover apartment complex. Police said the victim told dispatchers that two people, later identified as Jordan and Rockette, approached him on foot, pointed a gun at him and demanded his car. An officer responding to the scene located the victim's car traveling on Lorna Road and attempted to stop it. Police said the two men refused to pull over and continued north to I-65. A chase began; however, officers said they lost sight of the car when it exited the interstate. Within a few minutes, police said officers discovered the car unoccupied in the 1500 block of 35th Street in Ensley. With the assistance of officers from Birmingham police and Jefferson County deputies, Jordan and Rockette were located a short time later and transported to the Hoover city jail. Police said Rockette has been charged as an adult.
