Job Overview The Painter performs under general supervisor, painting, finishing, and maintaining a wide variety of interior and exterior surfaces and structures. General Responsibilities: • Paints, varnishes, stains, enamels, lacquers and redecorates walls, woodwork, and fixtures. • Mixes paint and matches colors. • Utilizes brushes, sprayers or rollers to apply paint or other coatings. • Removes old finish using scraper, chemical compounds, or heat gun. • Fills nail holes, joints, and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler. • Estimates time and material costs on painting and redecorating projects. • Requisitions new painting supplies and equipment. • Attends training programs as designated. • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures. • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments. • Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work. • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. • May perform other duties and responsibilities within maintenance department as assigned. General Qualifications • Willingness to be open to learning and growing. • Must posses own tools and reliable transportation. • Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance. • Attends work and shows up for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity in light of RHM’s time and attendance policy. • Ability to work a flexible schedule. • Must comply with any dress code requirements. • Must be able to work weekends and some holidays. Physical Requirements: • Significant walking or other means of mobility. • Ability to work in standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours) • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds. • Must be able to work of ladders and painters scaffolds. Working conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location): • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to heat/cold. • Varying schedule to include evenings, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates. • Wears protective clothing and or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations. Experience/ Knowledge • High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience. • 2-3 years of related work experience.
