The Alpert JCC is currently seeking to hire a full-time Maintenance Associate I. This position works 40 hours per week; schedule will vary and include nights and weekends. Position Summary The Maintenance Associate is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of locker room, restrooms and the rest of the facility and readiness for meetings through setups. Essential Position Responsibilities • Housekeeping functions including the regular and special cleaning of the building and grounds • Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; vacuums, brooms and mops • Daily inspections of all rooms to ensure safety, cleanliness and timely repair as needed • Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, conferences, and events • Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing debris from sidewalks and stairs • Attend to emergencies when necessary for custodial assistance • Minor grounds keeping duties • Assisting with directing traffic for our parking lot • Maintain the highest quality of courtesy, friendliness and service excellence toward members, visitors and staff • Understand and support the AJCC’s mission and values • Work effectively with all staff members • Additional responsibilities may be assigned Skills • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and display qualities of integrity and honesty • Basic knowledge of cleaning products • Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment • Resourceful, dependable, efficient and service oriented • Ability to remain organized while managing multiple details • Ability to communicate effectively Education, Experience and Requirements • High School Diploma or GED preferred • Janitorial experience preferred Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the Maintenance Associate is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. This person is required to stand and move about the entire building and grounds including mechanical areas and the roof, climb ladders, and operate hydraulic lift equipment. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Work Environment The work environment is primarily indoors and occasional exposure to outdoor elements will occur during the workday. The noise level is consistent with an Early Childhood Education center, fitness center and a building with significant access from the public.
