6th Street Studios and Art Center has started our first Artist Residency! We are accepting applications for artists to enjoy one of our BRAND NEW studios for 6 weeks - 3 months to complete a project, or body of work. Duration: 6 Weeks - 3 Months (Artist's Choice) Eligibility: We believe the hallmarks of an ideal resident artist include: proficiency in their selected area(s), comfort with community engagement, self-motivation, and a strong sense of creative direction. Both emerging & established artists are encouraged to apply. Artists of any discipline (any material that releases toxic fumes, is flammable, or requires large power tools will need to be worked on in the outside work area only) Objective: To assist and support artists in their professional development To connect artists with new audiences To provide an environment to develop new work and focus on creative endeavors Studios Facilities: Residency is Work Space only (Living quarters must be secured separately) 24/7 Access to well-lit 11’x12’ private studio, Located inside our Main Gallery Outside Work Area In-house Kiln Easel and some basic art supplies Two (2) Gender-neutral Restrooms (1 ADA-compliant) Two (2) Mud/Wet Sinks, One (1) Rinse Sink Gallery / Exhibition Space: Artwork may be displayed on the outside of the studio for the duration of residency, including retail. Exhibition Space is available for post residency show, inquire for details. Online Exposure Provided: Online exhibition of work produced during residency (if desired) Resident bios and artwork are posted to our social media platforms and included in our newsletters, along with promotion on Gallery 1202's platforms(our parent entity). Community Engagement Component Artists are required to host open studios one (1) day a week: Wed 1-5 PM, Thur 1-5 PM, Fri 2-6 PM, Sat 1-5 PM, or Sun 11-3 PM.
