UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND College Park Campus Department of Residential Facilities Housekeeper Summary: This position has complete responsibility for all housekeeping responsibilities within an assigned area of a campus residence hall or other assigned building. This “area complete” responsibility requires performance of the full range of housekeeping/custodial duties to include but not limited to trash removal, high dusting, public area cleaning, restroom cleaning and floor care. During break and summer periods, when buildings are unoccupied, the position will typically be assigned to work with other housekeepers to prepare buildings for summer guests and/or new student occupancy. This is a Full Time position. The work shift will be 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM and will include working some weekend. The Department of Residential Facilities is responsible for providing and/or arranging routine and emergency maintenance services for the College Park’s Campus’ residence halls, Greek chapter houses and recreational facilities. The Department is responsible for 48 residence hall buildings and Fraternity Row chapter houses with just over 2 million square feet of space. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow directions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
