NYC Open Streets Ambassadors Full time and part time positions available. NYC's Open Streets" program allows New Yorkers to enjoy newly opened public spaces. "The Open Streets" program prioritizes pedestrians and cyclists by transforming streets into more friendly areas. We are looking for individuals to serve as Open Streets Ambassadors near south Chelsea, the West Village, and Hudson River Park. Be a part of this great program. During designated times you will help promote a safe and welcoming environment. Starting hours are 4pm to Midnight, Tuesday through Sunday each week. Full and part time positions are available. Pay is $19 per hour / Sample duties may include: Touring the neighborhood to observe pedestrian activities focusing on the neighborhood’s Open Streets, and the streets and public plazas directly adjacent to the Open Streets Politely informing pedestrians and public of applicable rules for plaza use and conduct Providing directions and other assistance to individuals in need within the District Completing daily summary report forms highlighting issues such as changes to the neighborhood, observed violations of the street closures, critical issues that negatively affect pedestrian safety, general notes on traffic flow and pedestrian activity; and, other key reporting metrics to be developed through the course of the program Rolling planters and French barricades into place on selected streets to vehicles during Open Street hours Directing private vehicles away from streets closed to vehicular traffic during Open Street hours Supporting emergency vehicle access to streets closed to private vehicular traffic during Open Street hours Discouraging idling, double parking, and unnecessary standing Requirements: Good physical condition. Must be able to work outside for the shift. Be comfortable interacting with the general public. Be able to move street barricades or other street assets. Follow all relevant government safety guidelines relating to COVID.
