ESTATE PROPERTY MAINTENANCE GROUNDSKEEPER/GENERAL LABORER Family seeking a detail-oriented, proactive groundkeeper/general laborer to assist in the performance of general landscape and grounds-keeping tasks related to the maintenance and renovation of landscape, hardscape, drainage systems, pool maintenance, fencing, and the overall upkeep of the landscape and exterior image. Summary/Objective Workers typically perform a variety of tasks, which may include any combination of the following: sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, sprinkler installation, and repairing structures. The groundkeeper position, under limited supervision, performs work of general maintenance; landscaping, gardening, basic plumbing, basic electrical work, and general upkeep. This position is also responsible for maintaining and repairing certain tools and supplies. The position will be required to work alongside additional domestic staff and be a team player. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and has to speak and listen. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Full-time position, and hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some weekends or evening hours necessary. Requirements – Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities MUST SPEAK FLUENT ENGLISH High school diploma or GED. Previous grounds maintenance/landscaping experience required. Prior experience working for a family and/or residential property preferred. The candidate must have a clean driving record and pass a criminal background check. Reliable, detail-oriented and outcome-oriented. Highly observant. Problem-solver. Have a positive attitude to work. Good time management and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to follow instructions. Able to work independently with good organizational skills. Responsibilities Care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls. Mix and spray fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders. Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edgers. Decorate gardens with stones and plants. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Maintain irrigation systems. Perform tasks relating to the installation and maintenance of turf including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, insect/weed control, and dethatching, seeding, sodding, aeration and site preparation. Maintain cleanliness of grounds including litter control, leaf removal and sweeping of paved areas. Ensure that work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner, clearly marked with caution or safety signs as required. Vacuum pool. Maintain and repair tools and equipment. Perform general physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials, lifting 50lbs or more. Perform related duties as assigned.
