Opening Reception to Foundation Story, exhibition by Tenjin Ikeda Guttenberg Arts Gallery is pleased to present Foundation Story, an exhibition of work by Tenjin Ikeda. On view from June 12th - July 4th, 2021 at the Guttenberg Arts Gallery with an opening reception Saturday, June 12 from 7pm - 9pm. Tenjin Ikeda explains the thesis of his exhibition: “During the past year there was a significant changes going on not only in the world but also within me that wasn’t always conscious or even understandable. What I came to realize was that my life was changing on a very deep and profound level. Sleep was being interrupted, there was a heaviness in my body. I was having physical and mental reactions to life that seems very much out of my control. One of the saving graces was the ability to make art and connect to something that was beyond myself and the physical reality that we so desperately cling on to yet don’t have much control over. I was forced to turn within search for, unpack and discover answers. The work that is being presented is the result of this journey. I have always been interested in the spiritual, the ritual space those spaces that are beyond human comprehension but make the most sense to me and have had a great impact in how I have lived my life and shaped my art making. It is an acknowledgment of a foundation that I have not always appreciated fully because I didn’t see the beauty within my experiences. It is a ode to those people, places and cultures that continue to inspire and embrace who I am and who I am becoming.” Exhibition: June 12th, 2021 - July 4th, 2021; Opening Reception Saturday June 12th, 7pm - 9pm.
