What if you had to haul water every day to cook, clean and wash? Villagers in Kenya face this reality. Help us, help them! "Villagers carry water an average of 6km (3.7 miles) a day." Kathryn Reid, World Vision. This may seem like a crazy undertaking to you, however, this challenge will represent a slice of the difficulty faced by Kenyan villagers every day. All funds from registrations, business sponsorships, and donations will go to Clean Water In Kenya, a registered non-profit entity. Clean Water In Kenya is a non-profit organized by Mike Musingi, who currently resides in Idaho Falls. Mike grew up in Kenya hauling water. Mike created the Clean Water In Kenya non-profit to drill a well for his village. That was completed and provides many people with fresh water every day. However, water is still hauled to the schools in the area. These funds will be used to construct a water tower that will allow for the water to be delivered to multiple schools in and around the village where Mike grew up. The water tower will allow the schools to provide drinking, hand washing, and sanitation for the students. www.gritleague.com
